Municipal Planning Services
EcoVue currently provides Municipal Planning Services to a number of municipalities across our service area. These include: The Village of Burk’s Falls, the Townships of Alnwick/Haldimand, Brock, Cramahe, Limerick, Otonabee-South Monaghan, and Ramara, and the Municipality of Trent Hills. The level of service provided to each of these local municipalities varies. Most of the municipalities rely on internal staff for less complicated matters, but turn to us when the scope and scale of inquiries and applications is beyond their level of expertise. In many cases we have assisted in reviews and updates to the municipalities’ Official Plans and Zoning By-laws, in addition to providing ongoing planning services.
EcoVue’s planners stay current with these changes and can provide up to the minute guidance through tough policy issues. In particular, EcoVue’s planners have spent many hours in the review and interpretation of the new policies introduced in the 2017 Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The release of the 2017 Plan has significant implications for smaller, rural municipalities. Our planners are able to provide specific expertise on new and emerging planning issues, including These include, but are not limited to on-farm diversified uses, medical and commercial marijuana facilities, tiny homes, and intensification and infilling.
EcoVue is also able to assist municipalities with special projects, such as Community Improvement Plans, Cultural Heritage Mapping, Development Charges By-laws, Secondary Plan preparation and research projects. Our firm is currently working with the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan to undertake an Agricultural Diversification Study, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Rural Economic Development (RED) program.
